ELECTION OF OFFICERS OF IBEW LOCAL UNION 266
DECEMBER 20, 2019
Pursuant to a agreement between the U.S. Department of Labor and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 266 dated September 23, 2019, IBEW Local 266 will conduct a new election for the offices of Business Manager/Financial Secretary/International Convention Delegate, Electrical Systems Executive Board Members (2), and International Convention Delegates (4) and Alternate Delegates (4) under the supervision of the Secretary of Labor and in accordance with Title IV of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (LMRDA), and insofar as lawful and practicable with the IBEW Constitution and IBEW Local 266 Bylaws.
VOTER ELIGIBILITY: A ballot will be mailed to every member of Local 266 on December 2, 2019. In order to have his/her ballot counted, a member must be in good standing at the time of the tally of ballots on December 20, 2019. Members have until December 20, 2019 at 12:00pm to pay their dues to the Local in order to vote. Certain members are not allowed to vote pursuant to Article XV, Section 5 of the IBEW Constitution, which provides that “no LU shall allow any member who becomes an electrical employer, a partner in an electrical employing concern, a general manager, or other managerial position, to hold office in the LU or attend any of its meetings, or vote in any election of a LU.” If you have a question about your eligibility to vote under this provision, please contact Election Supervisor Cinthia Gonzalez at (213) 891-6969.
BALLOTS: Voted ballots will be picked up from the Arcadia Post Office located at 3920 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018 at precisely 12:30pm on December 20, 2019 and returned to the Local 266 Union Hall, 1650 N. 36th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008 for the tally. The Election Committee will tally the ballots under the supervision of OLMS representatives.
REPLACEMENT BALLOTS: Members who do not receive a ballot, or spoil their ballot may request a replacement ballot by contacting the Election Supervisor Cinthia Gonzalez by telephone (213)891-6969, fax (213)534-6413, or email at LADO-ElectionSupervisor@dol.gov beginning December 6, 2019. The deadline to request a replacement ballot is 12:00pm on December 18, 2019.
Members requesting a replacement ballot should allow enough time for the election supervisor to receive and process the request, and mail the replacement ballot, and for the requesting member to receive, vote, and return the ballot before the ballots are picked up from the Arcadia Post Office on December 20, 2019.
The U.S. Department of Labor will certify the election results, which will be posted at the union office and the union’s website. The newly elected officers will be installed on January 7, 2020. The elected officers will serve the remaining period from the June 2019 election.
RUN-OFF ELECTION: In accordance with Local 266 Bylaws Article III Section 8 (p) if a candidate for the office of Business Manager/Financial Secretary/ International Convention Delegate does not receive a majority of the votes cast, there will be a run-off between the two candidates with the highest vote totals. Ballots for the run-off election will be mailed December 27, 2019 to all members who meet the voting eligibility requirements. Ballots for the run-off will be tallied on January 17, 2020 and the winning candidate will be installed on February 4, 2020. The time and location of the tally will be included with the run-off ballot instructions.
Members may protest the conduct of this election at any time during or after the election, but not later than 4:00 pm on December 30, 2019.
